Gina started breaking down the Christmas tree this evening and I protested, saying we hadn’t shot our annual family Christmas portrait. I use “annual” loosely here. So I got all my pitchure takin’ junk out. In hindsight, it would have been better to think of this earlier in the season. I would have shaved and worn a decent shirt and we would have combed Abby’s hair.<\/p>\n

It was little touch and go with Abby until she grabbed the camera remote from me and started shooting the pictures herself. As long as I let her push the button, she was content to sit with us \u2014 for a little while at least.<\/p>\n

We tried to get her to take a photo of just me and Gina, but she wouldn’t stay out of the shot. When Gina saw the photos she said we could make a photo Christmas card just like everybody else. I wondered if we could get a good post-holiday deal on those.<\/p>\n

I shot this last one. It would have been better if Gina had unwrapped the candy cane.<\/p>\n

Strobist<\/a> info: SB-600 at 1\/8 camera right fired into reflective umbrella. SB-26 high back camera left on 1\/64 for rim\/hair light. ISO 200. Gina’s and Abby’s faces catch the light right, but I’ve got a deep shadow over my right eye that’s bothersome. I’ll have to remember that. In the last one, Gina seems to be getting some fill on the shadow side from a CFL in a nearby lamp. I need to watch for that, too, I guess.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
