That red raft was obviously on the wrong line right at the entrance to the rapid. The line led directly into the hole yet the oarsman did not angle the raft and begin rowing backwards and right until just before entering the hole. It seems to me that if the oarsman had spun stern right and put in a couple of strong strokes near the top he/she’d have cleared the hole.
