We worked in a road trip to Little Rock over the weekend and hit the Arkansas State Fair on its last night. Gina rode the merry-go-round with Abby and Brayden, who is the son of our good friend Jim. Jim is also known as Tater for his well-publicized love of, well, taters. Abby laughed maniacally as she went round and round. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a very good shot of them as they came around. The thing was going about a hundred miles an hour and the horses jumping up and down like they do.
Abby decided she wanted to ride on this thing called Crazy Plane with her Aunt Jodie. It wasn’t really crazy. It was in the kid section and it just went up about 10 feet and then came back down in a circlular motion. Abby initially buried her head in Jodie’s side but later was able to wave at Gina and me on the ground. A couple days later when we were driving home, Abby was talking about the ride and said “It was a little scary.”
Abby and Jodie staring in wonder at some bit of fabulousness. Abby spent a lot of time contemplating her surroundings. The fair can overload the senses of even grownups.

sounds like you and abby are both underestimating the scariness of the crazy plane ride. for several minutes, i was afraid that my favored aunt status was in serious jeopardy. luckily, her mom distracted her with corndogs and lemonade and she quickly forgot about it.
